He claims we worship the wrong power: that the divine rests within the earth, and that God is false.” I told him surely such a man would have been executed long ago, and Father Dante shook his head and whispered conspiratorially. “Word is, they have tried, and it… does not take.”
I think he sought to make a joke at my expense, but the poor nature of the jest simply proved him a fool, not I.
